Rafe HardyArtistic Creative Director
Hardy is literally the "face" of Sexy Hair, attracting a global following as he demonstrates his great artistry and motivational skills at hair shows all over the world. The charismatic, award-winning hairdresser and educator was hired as platform artist by the Sexy Hair founder in 2000 and studied under him for over a decade, working his way up through the ranks as master educator/platform artist, then director of the Institute of Courage, Sexy Hair's premier educational facility, before reaching his current position in 2007. As the Artistic Director, along with spreading the Sexy Hair message worldwide, he frequently meets with consumer and trade magazine editors to brief them on all things product related. Most recently, Hardy has been the lead role in creating the looks for the Charlotte Ronson show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York for 2 years in a row. With an appearance on QVC, and media events for Cosmopolitan, In Style and OK! Magazine, Rafe Hardy has helped take the Sexy Hair brand to the next level of Hollywood stardom.
A former salon owner with over 25 years experience in the professional beauty industry, Hardy oversees Sexy Hair's creative team, creating and teaching stylists the company's twice-yearly haircut collections and developing new show formats. In collaboration with Sexy Hair Director of Education Stephanie Polansky, Hardy is also responsible for the curriculum at the Institute of Courage.
Stephanie PolanskyDirector of Education and Shows
Before joining the Sexy Hair team, Polansky served as Head of Global Education Innovation for KMS and was the Senior Manager of Education Development at Pureology. She also served as Director of Education for eight Ecotage Day Spa and Salons where she managed more than 230 stylist’s education and training. A former hairstylist, Polansky also served as a Platform Artist for Redken and was selected to be a facilitator for the program “Everything’s Included” at the Redken Exchange in New York City. She later went on to serve as their Manager of Education Development.
With over 25 years in the industry Polansky’s career goal was to work for a company who had a family environment and supported each other’s goals and dreams.
“I'm delighted to be part of a team whose passion for the company can't be measured,” says Polansky. “The energy of the education team is intoxicating and the minute I met all of them I knew I was home. I'm looking forward to an extremely long and successful future with Sexy Hair.”
Polansky is responsible for the growth and development of over 120 educators who execute over 4,000 events a year around North America. Along with creating the curriculum for the entire world Polansky also manages over 37 shows and events a year.
Matthew CalabroSr. Training and Development Manager
Missy CroquartArtistic Training Manager
With over a decade in the industry, Missy Croquart has made it her mission to inspire and educate stylists worldwide. In her many leadership roles, including Sexy Hair Regional Education Manager, International Master Artist, Academy Coach, and now the Education Artistic Training Manager, she works tirelessly to develop the talents and business of new artists and accounts in the professional beauty industry. Missy is also an in-demand artist with an impressive resume that includes LA Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, music videos, photo shoots, live performances and international work spanning North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.
As the Education Artistic Training Manager for Sexy Hair, Missy’s main responsibilities include working to creatively strategize, launch and maintain new or existing classes, programs and products. She effectively manages high level projects, builds and develops meaningful relationships with stylists and account partners, and coaches and trains educators worldwide while maintaining a consistent corporate message.
Her many travels have benefitted Missy’s clientele as well. Bringing back inspiration and influences from around the world allows her to create unique, cutting edge looks for every guest who sits in her chair. Her thorough understanding of face shapes and the geometry of cutting hair and upstyling have also earned her a loyal following.
Added to Missy’s long list of accomplishments is an equally long list of awards. She was named Regional Education Manager of the Year 2012 and was recognized for being a certified volunteer with the American Cancer Society’s Look Good Feel Better program. Dedicated to lifelong education, Missy is working to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration to add to her Associates in Arts degree in Liberal Arts.
Staying true to her personal mantra “Dream, Believe, Do.” Missy is currently working toward advancing her degrees which she hopes will one day catapult her to a Vice President role. Directing, launching and growing a brand through technology and education is one of Missy’s main aspirations. She hopes to leave a legacy of inspiration, dreaming and believing and to empower young women to be leaders, entrepreneurs and successors.
Dawn AtkinsonMaster Artist
For Dawn Atkinson, hairdressing is an art form. Her tools of the trade are like brushes and the people she styles serve as a canvas. Even after more than a decade in the industry, she still loves being able to channel her creativity and ingenuity to give clients new looks and carry out their vision of what they want.
Hard working and dedicated, Atkinson is proud to have had the opportunity to showcase her talents in several high profile assignments including working backstage at a New York Fashion Week runway show, The Revolution (Cirque De Soleil) and Sexy Hair ad campaign photoshoots. Her work has also been featured on Modern Salon and Beauty Launchpad magazine.
One of the things she loves to do is share her knowledge and experience with other hairstylists. “Seeing their [hairstylists] passion and excitement when I am teaching new things is so rewarding,” says Atkinson.
Her own passion for education has led her to become a coach at the Sexy Hair award-winning Institute of Courage. She has also presented on stage as a Sexy Hair Master Artist at numerous trade shows including Premier Orlando, Chicago Midwest Beauty Show and several regional hair shows across the country along with numerous Sexy Rocks and Tribe of Style events.
“Work hard and dream big,” says Atkinson. “You can have anything and do anything you put your mind to and believe in yourself because dreams do come true.”
Kelly BilledoMaster Artist
During her 9 years as a stylist, Kelly Bileddo has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments. Owner of Salon Antebellum in St. Louis and a Sexy Hair Master Artist, she is a member of the Advisor Committee of National Academy of Arts, even becoming a model for their latest campaign. This year, she produced her first hair show, and she and her staff were chosen to style for the LOUD Hair Show at St. Louis Fashion Week. Most recently, she has begun doing hair for the Style Network’s Resale Royalty.
Kelly’s success can be attributed, in part, to her commitment to education. Continuously expanding her skill set, she has developed expertise in all hair types and texture techniques. She has earned countless certifications, is currently working toward her barber’s license, and has spent years training in Sexy Hair’s Structure in Motion cutting system. She loves using her skills and creativity to help clients boost their self-esteem and project inner beauty. “I enjoy giving the confidence of style and sexiness,” she says.
Helping others thrive and grow in the beauty industry is also Kelly’s passion. She thrives on touching people lives with positivity and prides herself on being patient and understanding with her students. Kelly conducts an associate program through her salon, taking on new stylists who have the potential to be great artists and working with them for 6 months. This program helps them develop business skills and poise while they build a clientele. Kelly has big plans for the future. She hopes to continue to grow her business and become the go-to artist for local photo shoots, fashion shows and special events. She would like to travel internationally with Sexy Hair and be a driving force in the company’s growth while becoming more education oriented with her salon staff. In the long term, Kelly dreams of launching her own product line with tools and accessories that will make the lives of hairdressers easier.

Lonn BogartMaster Artist
Lonn Bogart is an accomplished stylist with many successfully years as a stylist—his passion for the industry is undeniable. As an in-demand educator, he’s traveled all over the world training hairdressers and inspiring them to love their craft. He has held many prestigious positions, including Regional Education Manager, New Hire Coach, Master Artist and Lead Artist for Sexy Hair. Lonn was a recipient of Sexy Hair’s “Regional Education Manager of the Year Award,” and during his tenure as a Lead Coach at the Institute of Courage, the academy won two consecutive awards by Beauty Launchpad as “Best Academy.”
Creating unique styles for every client is Lonn’s mission, and designing hair has served as an outlet for showcasing both his talent and skill. His expertise in dry cutting and color lets him envision the perfect look for each new person who sits in his chair, based on that individual’s lifestyle, mood, and career. Lonn takes the time to educate his clients on how to style their own hair at home because as he says, “I never get referrals on a ponytail.”
Forward movement is a constant theme in Lonn’s life. He plans to continue his legacy as a tough, but caring and compassionate educator by becoming a motivational speaker. He also dreams of opening his own boutique hair salon, showcase the “Lonn Dean Blow Out” and design his own hair tools. “I am the luckiest person to be able to do what I love and share it with others. It is truly an amazing experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he says.
Laura HickenbrothMaster Artist
Laura Hickenboth started her professional career in 2006 and has never settled for less than the best. A Sexy Hair Master Artist and salon owner, she has made transforming people into better versions of themselves the foundation of her career as a stylist and educator. Laura has been recognized as a “Sexy Hair Rising Star” in Behind the Chair magazine, named Sexy Hair Educator of the Year 2010, and worked behind the scenes of numerous fashion shows and photo shoots. Her work has been featured on the runways of New York Fashion Week and in Launchpad, Behind the Chair, BE and Modern Salon Magazine.
Laura touches her clients’ lives with her ability to “foresee what could be, enhance features and diminish areas of insecurity.” She loves to see clients enter her salon as one person and leave stronger and more confident. This is one of the pleasures she gets when volunteering with Look Good Feel Better, a program that provides beauty services to women undergoing cancer therapies. For years, she has coached hundreds of women on how to look great and lift their spirits.
A certified cosmetology instructor and platform artist, Laura thrives on connecting with fellow artists, too. She feels happiest when on stage, sharing her expertise and passion with her audience. “I have always wanted to teach. Helping others achieve their goals is a very rewarding aspect of my career,” says Laura. At her salon, Premier Beauty Bar of Edmond, she works to help each member of her staff achieve a greater level of creativity. Fittingly, education is integrated into Laura’s long-term goals. She hopes to double her salon staff, eventually open a second salon and partner with a cosmetology school. She also aspires to found her own Sexy Hair academy, continue traveling worldwide to educate other stylists, and perform on stage to ignite her own passion for hair design in others.
Melanie KnappMaster Artist
Melanie Knapp knows how to bring it! With over fifteen years of experience in the beauty industry, this creative, energetic and highly motivated entrepreneur knows how to raise the bar and excel at everything she sets out to do.
For Knapp, quality and reliability are instrumental in the industry, which is why she chose Sexy Hair as one of the products she carries in her salon, Melanie Knapp Salon in Glastonbury, CT.
“What attracted me to Sexy Hair was that all its products deliver what they promise,” said Knapp. However, she soon learned to love Sexy Hair’s education program which is why she became part of its education team.
Now, whether it’s onstage as a platform artist or teaching at a class, Knapp likes to share her experience and knowledge with others. “Never be greedy with knowledge,” says Knapp. “Share it and your experience and understanding will grow.”
James MeltonMaster Artist
Jimmy Melton is an accomplished stylist with almost 25 years in the industry. In addition to his role as a Sexy Hair Master Artist, Jimmy has been a salon owner, served as a Director of Sales, and is currently Director of Education for Kerry Mac Salon and Spa in Columbus, Georgia. He has worked to master his craft over the years with advanced training in texturizing and permanents. Jimmy has also been to Hairdresser Boot Camp to learn about salon management and all aspects of salon operations.
Putting his heart into every aspect of his work is what sets Jimmy apart from the pack. Hairdressing is something he always felt he was meant to do, and he still enjoys it more and more every day. He prides himself on doing the best color, cuts, extensions and upstyles on all hair types. “I truly care about my clients and how they look,” he says. Jimmy hopes this ethos will earn him an even stronger client base and propel him as an educator.
Jimmy lists being a part of the Sexy Hair team of educators as one of his greatest professional achievements because it has allowed him to become a platform artist and train up-and-coming talent. He plans to continue to sharing knowledge in the future, inspiring fellow stylists to live and work authentically.
Mary RamseyMaster Artist
Even though she grew up on a 200-acre farm and still lives in rural Indiana, Ramsey has her feet firmly planted in the world of beauty. As a Sexy Hair master artist since 2000, she travels regionally conducting hands-on classes and also owns a salon, where hair coloring is 85 percent of her business.
“This profession has given me the creative outlet I need as well as the satisfaction of helping clients love themselves by bringing out their beauty. Helping someone create a confident outward appearance is a great gift,” says Ramsey, who’s been a hairstylist for 27 years and has a daughter graduating from beauty school.
“My clients love to change their style, and they keep me on my toes.” These days, she’s most enthusiastic about teaching. “That’s the most rewarding part of working for Sexy Hair: motivating other stylists to expand their knowledge and reviving their passion for this industry. I feel like I’m making a difference.”

With over 25 years of experience in the hair industry, Javier A. Rivera has had quite a fulfilling career. He has served as an educator, stylist and master artist for Sexy Hair and continues to utilize his extensive knowledge to train up and coming professionals.
From in-salon classes, to main stage – Rivera has done it all. As a master artist, Rivera has traveled extensively on behalf of Sexy Hair sharing his knowledge about the products, brand and culture with others. He’s also a top performing artist that has led shows in North America, South America and Europe.
Rivera is a successful salon owner with a diverse and extensive clientele. This knowledge and experience makes him an expert on how to establish and grow a business.
