7 Ways to Grow Longer Healthier Hair

Step 1. Get a haircut. The first step to growing long hair is to trim off dead, split ends and start with healthy hair.

Step 2. Moisturizing Shampoo. Every time you wash your hair be sure to use a shampoo that is moisturizing, especially if your hair is dry and brittle.

Step 3. Moisturizing Conditioner. After shampooing, be sure to follow up with an extra moisturizing conditioner to help lock in moisture to the strands. Use a deep treatment once a week for added protection.

Step 4. Wide tooth comb. Instead of using a brush when combing out your hair, use a wide-toothed comb and work out tangles from the bottom to the top to help minimize breakage.

Step 5. Natural Oils. Using a natural bristle brush, brush hair out at least once a day to move your scalp’s natural oils from the scalp to the ends.

Step 6. Over Styling. Avoid using a lot of chemicals and over styling the hair. Processes like these can cause the hair to dry out and break. If you are wearing your hair in a ponytail or bun, be sure to use metal-free elastic bands that do not tend to rip out your hair.

Step 7. Trim, trim, trim. Continue to regularly trim your hair about ¼ to ½ inches per month. This helps remove split ends allowing more energy to be generated into growing new healthier locks.
